Katharine "Kate" Virginia Lee Davenport (neé Hardman; 31 March 1883 – 29 September 1993) was a validated American supercentenarian.

Biography[]

Katharine Davenport was born as Katharine Virginia Lee Hardman on 31 March 1883 in Parsons, Kansas. Her parents were James E. Hardman and Martha Ann (neé Burdett) Hardman. She had 11 siblings. Her father died in 1908 at the age of 69 and her mother died in 1904 at the age of 60. She married William Lawrence Davenport on 19 Jun 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple had two children: Mary Katharine "Katy" McIntyre (1917–2015) and William Lawrence Davenport, Jr (1919–2015). Her husband died in 1969 at the age of 89.

Members of her family had also experienced longevity: her brother John Hardman lived to be 98, her sister Nannine Sharpe lived to be 93, her daughter Mary Katharine McIntyre lived to be 97, her son William Davenport, Jr lived to be 95. Her sister, Nelle Eby, was also a supercentenarian, making them the first documented sisters supercentenarian pair in history. Katharine was listed in the 1992 and 1993 Guinness World Records with her sister Nelle Eby as the "Oldest Living Siblings" in the United States and the world.

She died in Mexico, Missouri on 29 September 1993 at the age of 110 years, 182 days.
