Katherine Coughlin (née McDevitt; 21 December 1903 – 30 January 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known living person in Rhode Island at the time of death.
Biography[]
Katherine Coughlin was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA on 21 December 1903. Her parents were Charles McDevitt and Catherine (née Atkinson) McDevitt.
She married Charles Coughlin on 10 September 1924. The couple had two children: Marie Buonanno (1925–1966) and Charles Coughlin (1927–1967). She was widowed in 1954.
She was one of the first employees at the former jewelry company Trifari, Kressman & Fishel and worked there from 1939 until she retired in 1976 at the age of 73.
She was a faithful communicant of Saint Brigid’s Church. She lived at Scalabrini Villa Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Katherine Coughlin died in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA on 30 January 2015 at the age of 111 years, 40 days.
