Katherine Isabel Jones (30 August 1879 – 27 April 1992) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Katherine Jones was born on 30 August 1879 in Paola, Kansas, USA, and homesteaded in Colorado before moving to Los Angeles, California in about 1920. She trained as a nurse, but instead chose to become a teacher, a job she said was more fun. She also taught adult Sunday school at the Second Baptist Church of Los Angeles for more than 50 years. For 20 years, she led the local chapter of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union. She taught adult Sunday school until she was 99.

Jones spent her last few years living in the Los Angeles convalescent home. On her 112th birthday, she received a commendation and a visit from Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley. Katherine Jones died on 27 April 1992 in Los Angeles, California, USA at the age of 112 years, 241 days.
