Kiyo Sato [Satō] (Japanese: 佐藤亀代; 13 September 1910 – 30 April 2021) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2024.
Biography[]
Kiyo Sato was born in Kiyokawa, Oita Prefecture, Japan on 13 September 1910. She married Ichio Sato from Ogata-machi at age 26. She lived in her own house until age 101.
On 15 September 2018, two days after her 108th birthday, Sato was visited by Katsusada Hirose, the governor of Oita Prefecture.
In September 2020, Sato celebrated her 110th birthday. Following the death of 112-year-old Kunie Kamiya on 26 January 2021, she became the oldest living person in Ōita prefecture.
Kiyo Sato died in Bungo-Ono, Oita Prefecture, Japan on 30 April 2021 at the age of 110 years, 229 days.
