Koito Furukawa was born in Japan on 8 May 1901. She (then anonymous) was reported to be the oldest living person in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan in September 2011[1], and held the title until her death on 11 October 2014 at the age of 113 years, 156 days. She was validated on 12 October 2014 (=the following day).
