Lambis Kounoupas [Greek; Λάμπης Κούνουπας] (1 November 1905 – 10 September 2013) was a Greek centenarian who was the oldest known living man and person in Greece at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Lambis Kounoupas was born in the village Amari in Rethymno regional unit, Crete, Greece on 1 November 1905. He spent his whole life in the countryside, and in the last few years of his life he stayed in Athens with his son during the winter, returning to his birthplace with the arrival of spring.

He became the oldest known living person in Greece, following the death of 109-year-old Panagiota Kraniou on 25 October 2012.

Kounoupas died in the same village of Amari, Crete, Greece on 10 September 2013, at the age of 107 years, 314 days. Following his death, then 107-year-old Eugenia Vrantis, became the oldest known living person in Greece.
