Laura Evalena Gibson (nèe Carpenter; 17 January 1905 – 28 January 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Laura Evalena Carpenter was born near Calais, Monroe County, Ohio, USA on 17 January 1905 to Silas Wellington Carpenter (1873–1963) and Charlotte Louise (Dailey) Carpenter (1872–1972). She lived a long and productive life growing up and starting married life on the farm before moving to Quaker City in 1940. Laura worked at the cigar factory, as well as Broughton’s Dairy and Quaker City Post Office. She had three children: Geneva Bewley, Iona Bundy and Ray Dempsey Carpenter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, James Chancy Carpenter (1901–1944) and Clyde Herbert Gibson (1902–1995).

Laura Gibson died at Emerald Pointe in Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio on 28 January 2015, aged 110 years, 11 days. She was buried on 3 February 2015 at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, Guernsey County, Ohio, USA.
