Laurence Entiope (9 December 1862 – 7 April 1974) was a French supercentenarian from the overseas department of Martinique whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Laurence Entiope was born on 9 December 1862 in Le Marin, Martinique, France. Her mother was Pelagie Entiope, but her father seems to be unknown. She had three brothers and a half-brother.
Entiope seemed to never have been married. However, she had at least three extramarital children: Andre (born 1880), Nisette (born 1882) and Ludger (born 1885).
Laurence Entiope died on 7 April 1974 in Le Lamentin, Martinique, France at the age of 111 years and 119 days.
Potential Longevity Records[]
If her age were validated, she would have been the doyenne of France from the death of Emilie Coqueran until her own death. Her successor was Marie-Ernestine Compain.
She would also have been the world's oldest woman (and person) from the death of Alice Stevenson on 18 August 1973 until her own death nearly eight months later. She also would have been the first French supercentenarian (ahead of Marie-Virginie Duhem). Although Ferdinise Nebolle and Georgette Jeanmaire probably reached this milestone before then, their ages have not been validated by the GRG.
