Leanora Watson (18 February 1912 – 18 April 2023) was a Jamaican supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known living person in Jamaica at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Leanora Watson was born in Mount Peace, Hanover, Jamaica on 18 February 1912 (8 February according to Jamaica Gleaner article). Her parents were James Watson and Harobela James.
In February 2022, Watson celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Following the death of 111-year-old Louisea McDonald on 3 September 2022, Watson became the oldest known living person in Jamaica. Following the death of 111-year-old Dora Skeen on 19 September 2022, she became the oldest known living Jamaican-born person.
Leanora Watson died in Brissett community, Lucea, Hanover, Jamaica on 18 April 2023 at the age of 111 years, 59 days. Following her death, then 111-year-old Merle O'Hara of Canada became the oldest known living Jamaican-born person.
