Liberalino Ferreira Leite (6 February 1899 – 15 June 2009) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Early life[]

Liberalino Leite was born in Brejo, outside the city of Crato, Ceara, Brazil on 6 February 1899 to Inacio Ferreira Leite and Rita Liberalino de Meneses. He had 9 siblings: Joaquim, Valdemiro, Virgilio, Antonio, Jose, Livardo, Irineia, Genir and Beleza. His parents were of Portuguese descent. His family had a small property where they worked. For some time, he lived in Lagoa Rasa site, now part of the Ponta da Serra district, Ceara. On 21 November 1925, he married Ester de Souza Leite, daughter of his relative, Antonio Jose Leite.

Later life[]

With his wife, he had eight children: Edmilson (born 1930), Valdir (born 1932; died before 2009), Creuza (born 1935), Jaime (born 1936), Antonio (born 1937), Valdo (born 1939), Maria (born 1941) and Maria (born 1944). After the wedding, he acquired a small estate near the town of Ponta da Serra. The couple moved to an old house, later known to everyone in the community as the house of the "botija".

At some point in his life, he moved to Crato, where his wife died at the age of 95. Liberalino was known as "Seu Belo".

Liberalino Leite died in Crato, Ceara, Brazil on 15 June 2009 at the age of 110 years, 129 days.
