Biography[]

Lillian Edwards was born on island of St. Kitts on 4 December 1912. She married Stanley Edwards and later they migrated from their birthplace to Antigua and Barbuda, at the invitation of her older sister. She began working at the Central Cotton Station at Friars Hill and later became a nurse. She was last assigned to the Mental Hospital.

Stanley died in 1968 at the age of 64. Her mother Catherine Gomes, died in Antigua and Barbuda in the 1990s, three months shy of her 100th birthday. She had a great-aunt who allegedly lived up to 115 years in St. Kitts, and an uncle who died at the claimed age of 112, in Anguilla. On her 105th birthday in 2017, she was said to have shown “no signs she will be leaving the earth very soon”.

Edwards was last known to be alive on 5 December 2017 at the age of 105 years, 1 day, and died somewhere before 8 June 2020. At that time, she lived in Cassada Gardens with her son, Rupert, and his wife, Annette Edwards.
