Elizabeth Lillian Ruebhausen (née Giese; 2 July 1905 – 2 April 2016) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known person in US state of Illinois, behind Katherine Bodenbender.
Biography[]
Lillian Ruebhausen was born in a small farm in Leavenworth, Kansas, USA on 2 July 1905. Her parents were Albert Giese, a German immigrant and Mary Adele (née Hunner) Giese. She had six siblings: five brothers, and one sister.
She married Ewald Ruebhausen on 11 September 1924. The couple had two children: Robert Ruebhausen (born 1926), and Gene Ruebhausen (1931–2009). She was widowed in 1973. Her last surviving sibling Arlene Jones died in 2018 at the age of 97.
Ruebhausen died in Granite City, Illinois, USA on 2 April 2016 at the age of 110 years, 275 days. She was survived by one son Robert Ruebhausen, one sister Arlene Jones, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one nephew Jim Giese, one daughter-in-law Verna Ruebhausen, special friend Denise Ruebhausen, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
