Lillie Maud Carberry (née Hays; 15 February 1886 – 16 January 1997) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Lillie Carberry was born as Lillie Maud Hays in Washington County, Tennessee, USA on 15 February 1886. Her parents were John Hays and Sarah (née Whitlock) Hays. She had five half-siblings and three siblings.

She married George Asbury Carberry in Fall Branch, Tennessee, United States on 17 January 1905. They had five children: Vesta Hufford-Tate (1908–2005), Amy Getz-Jacobs (c.1910–deceased), Reed Carberry (1915–2005), Fay Carberry (1922-2013), and Beulah Espy (1925–2008). She was widowed in 1956.

She was a member of the Mount Zion Christian Church, and was also a homemaker.

Carberry died in Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, USA on 16 January 1997 at the age of 110 years, 336 days. At the time of her death, she had nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
