Lizzie Beevers (née Johnson; 7 November 1884 – 4 August 1996) was a British supercentenarian whose age is validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognized by LongeviQuest (LQ). Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Lizzie Beevers was born as Lizzie Johnson in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England, UK, on 7 November 1884, to cabinetmaker Spencer Johnson. Her mother died at a young age, and her father remarried in 1893.
Beevers married her husband, Harold William Beevers, in 1914. The couple had one son, Charles Spencer, that same year. She was widowed in 1943.
Beevers died in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England, UK, on 7 August 1996, at the age of 111 years, 271 days. She was survived by her son Charles, who died in 2004 at the age of 89.
Recognition[]
At the time of her death, Beevers was the second-oldest known living person in the United Kingdom, behind Lucy Askew. She was also one of the top 20 oldest people to die in the country.
Beevers' age was verified by Andrew Holmes, and validated by the ESO on 6 June 2020. The validation was later accepted by LongeviQuest.
