Lona J. Collins (née Mergler; 18 June 1907 – 22 June 2019) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2024.
Biography
Lona Collins was born in Medford, Oklahoma, USA on 18 June 1907 to Henry and Lottie (Ledford) Mergler. She was a sickly baby and was not expected to live to her first birthday. She also survived cancer twice in her life.
Collins married Christopher Collins in 1926, and they were married until Christopher's death on 5 June 1991. The couple had two children, William G. Collins Sr. (died 2011) and Lois J. Klemenc.
Lona Collins died in Wickliffe, Ohio, USA, on 22 June 2019, at the age of 112 years, 4 days. At the time of her death, she was officially the oldest person in Ohio.
