Lorena Anderson (nee Hall) (5 June 1880 – 5 November 1990) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Early Life, Family, and Career[]
Lorena Anderson was born in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, USA, on 5 June 1880. She was African-American.
Anderson had at least two husbands and three children, all of whom she outlived. Her first husband was Charlie Burner, who was the father of her three children. The couple later got divorced. Charlie Burner died in 1926.
Some time after she got divorced with her first husband, she married her second and final husband, George Anderson.
For the majority of her life, Anderson lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, where she ran her own catering service for 41 years, specializing in Creole cooking. She also served lunch seven days a week at the Allen Manufacturing Co.
Later Life and Death[]
After living in Shreveport for 79 years, Anderson moved to Kansas City, Missouri, USA, where she lived for the rest of her life.
In her later years, Anderson enjoyed listening to gospel music and reciting memorized passages from the Bible.
Anderson got widowed in 1972, after her second husband George died.
In June 1990, Anderson celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Lorena Anderson died on 5 November 1990, at the age of 110 years, 153 days.
