Louis Le Bouedec [original: Louis Le Bouëdec] (12 February 1903 – 21 August 2012) was the oldest living man in France until his death at age 109 years, 191 days.
Biography[]
Le Bouedec was born in the commune of Keryado on 12 February 1903. At the age of 14, Le Bouedec joined the French arsenal (currently the Naval Group) and became an engineer. During World War II, he was the Chief of Pyrotechnics of Trefaven, which was taken over by the Germans in 1940.
Le Bouedec was put in charge of liberating the site and neutralize any dangerous devices locatd there. In 1949, Le Bouedec was appointed as a Knight in the Order of the Legion of Honor. Le Bouedec retired in 1963.
Le Bouedec married Melanie Nicolas and had two children with her. Melanie died in 1995, and Le Bouedec moved into a retirement home in 2001. Le Bouedec became the oldest living man in France on 3 April 2012 upon the death of 109-year old Andre Coudrat, until his own death four months later, aged 109 years, 191 days. His successor was Emile Turlant.
