Louise Gendronneau (née Poirier; 18 August 1910 – 8 January 2022) was a French supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.
Biography[]
Louise Gendronneau was born in Villefagnan, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 18 August 1910. She married Guy Gendronneau on 12 February 1934 in Bernac, Charente, where she will live most of her life, helping in the farm.
Gendronneau had four children with her husband. As of 2021, they gave her eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Gendronneau lived independently with her youngest daughter until the age of 104, when she moved into the nursing home "Les boutons d'or" in Ruffec. In August 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday with two of her daughters.
In April 2021, Gendronneau was reported to have eyesight and hearing problems, and to rarely communicate. As of April 2021, she was vaccinated against COVID-19, making her one of the oldest (known) people to have received it.
Louise Gendronneau died in Ruffec, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 8 January 2022 at the age of 111 years, 143 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Charente department and the second-oldest known living person in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, after Juliette Bilde.
