Biography[]

Louise Levy was born as Louise Morris Wilk in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on 1 November 1910. Her parents were Louis and Mollie (née Morris) Wilk. She had one older brother, Ralph.

She married Seymour Levy in April 1939. They had two children, Ralph and Lynn. Levy worked as a secretary for her husband's business for much of her life. She continued to work there after his death in 1991, retiring when she was in her 90s.

According to her daughter, Lynn Neidorf, Levy was in good health and still very independent around her 109th birthday in 2019. She was able to regularly bathe, shower, and eat without assistance. She also maintained an active schedule at this time, enjoying morning stretch classes, participating in knitting groups, and playing bridge on a weekly basis.

When asked about her secrets to longevity, she cited a healthy diet, especially yogurt: "I started eating yogurt when I heard that that's why the Russians live to such a ripe old age because they eat a lot of the yogurt. So I have that for lunch every single day with a fruit and crackers."

Levy resided at The Osborn, a senior living community in Rye, New York, USA, where she had lived since 1996. She became the oldest known living person in the state following the death of 111-year-old Sadie Rosenkrantz on 11 August 2022. She died on 17 July 2023 at the age of 112 years, 258 days.
