Lucia "Lucy" Arthur Auther also known as Aunty Auther (4 December 1787 – 27 March 1896) was an American centenarian from Kentucky who died at the age of 108 years, 114 days in California.
Biography[]
Lucia Arthur was born on 4 December 1787 in Artemus, Knox County, Kentucky, United States. Her parents were unknown father and Sarah Smith (1747–1847) who lived at 99–100. She married James M. Arther and they had two Kids, James M. Arthur and Redden B. Arthur. Lucia was engaged to farming. She was described as married, housewife, and "African." According to interview done in 1892 she mentioned how she and her parents were owned by a Thomas Arthur of Knox County, Kentucky, then later she was given to his son Ambrose Arthur. James died in 1884 from unknown causes. Lucia Arthur died on 27 March 1896 in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California, United States from unknown causes at the age of 108 years, 114 days. She was buried in Block 27 of the Stockton Rural Cemetery. For some unknown reason, no record exists as to her exact burial site. It was either not recorded for some reason when she was buried or it was later misplaced or unwittingly destroyed.
