Ludvik Ondruj Petruj [Czech: Ludvík Ondrůj Petrůj] (7 April 1893 – 8 January 2000) was a Czech centenarian who was the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Ludvík Petrůj was born in Bystřice pod Lopeníkem, Zlín Region, Austria-Hungary (now Czech Republic), on 7 April 1893. During World War I, he was deployed on the Italian front. At some point, he married his wife Marie Petrůjová (1900–1989) and the couple had children.
On 7 April 1993, he celebrated her 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian. At the age of 105, he could still read without glasses, watch television, and everything going on around him.
On 23 May 1998, at the age of 105 years, 46 days, he surpassed the final age of Adam Ráj (1885–1990) of 105 years, 45 days, becoming the oldest known man ever to have lived in the Czech Republic.
Ludvík Petrůj died in Uherský Brod, Zlín Region, Czech Republic, on 8 January 2000, at the age of 106 years, 276 days. Following his death, then 105-year-old Emílie Doležalová became the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic. He was the oldest known man ever to have lived in the Czech Republic, until 15 January 2003, when his age was surpassed by Alois Vocásek (1896–2003).
