Luke Dolan (4 June 1906 – 9 November 2014) was an Irish centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Ireland at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Luke Dolan was born in Clonfree, Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland on 4 June 1906. Luke smoked and did not eat porridge until in his 60’s, but he appears to have long age and good health in his genes; his sister Mary Kate survived until her 106th year and sisters Nancy and Nora lived into their 90’s. His grandfather also lived to the age of 104.

He attributed his longevity to eating a boiled egg every day, a loving wife (Peggy died in 2005, aged 85) and sugar in his tea.

In August 2014, he was regularly visited by fellow farmer and 106-year old Michael Lambert, the second oldest man in Ireland. Michael himself, went on to become the Ireland’s oldest man after Luke.

Luke Dolan died in County Roscommon, Ireland on 9 November 2014 at the age of 108 years, 158 days. He was the oldest known man ever to died in Ireland until Michael O'Connor surpassed his age in 2022.
