Luzmila "Mila" Bermejo Montero viuda de Garcia [Spanish: García] (10 October 1912 - 16 September 2022) was a Peruvian centenarian. She was the oldest known living woman in Peru and the second oldest known living person in Peru, behind Victor Chanca Santos.

Biography[]

Luzmila Bermejo de Garcia was born in Chulucanas, Morropon Province, Peru on 10 October 1912. Her parents were Jose Bermejo and Lolita Montero.

She had seven children: Raquel, Nelly (deceased as of October 2016), Hugo, Paquita, Rosa, Manuel and Teresita. She married Manuel Garcia Delgado in La Victoria District, Lima Province, Peru on 5 June 1973. Her husband Manuel died in November 1979 at the age of 80.

As of October 2016, she had six living children, 28 grandchildren (including Elena Raquel Aguilar Castillo and Father Luis Miguel Enrique Aguilar), 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

At the age of 106, she still can walk with the help of a cane or walker.

In October 2018 at the age of 106, she voted in municipal election.

In May 2021 at the age of 108, she received her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, making her one of oldest people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Bermejo de Garcia died on 16 September 2022 in Lima, Lima Province, Peru, at the age of 109 years, 341 days.
