Lydia Smuda (6 November 1906 - 6 June 2019) is an German supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 10 November 2021.
Biography
Lydia Smuda was born in Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 6 November 1906. She studied to become a teacher. In 1942, she married Rudolf Smuda. Since the 1950s, Lydia Smuda has lived in Winterhude where she worked as a private teacher. She currently resides in Hamburg and is the oldest citizen of the city.
Reportedly, Mrs. Smuda reads newspaper and watches news on the TV daily. She is a great fan of boxing. In Dec. 2016, she was visited by her idol Wladimir Klitscho.[1][2]
Lydia Smuda died in Hamburg, Germany, on 6 June 2019, at the age of 112 years, 212 days.
