Maggie Murdock nee Pettiford (19 August 1887 – 22 July 2000) was a validated American supercentenarian. She was born in Orange County, North Carolina.
Biography
Maggie Murdock was born as Maggie Pettiford in the Orange County, North Carolina, United States, on 19 August 1887. She married Daniel Murdock and had one daughter. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, dancing, country and gospel music, games and cooking. In 1978, aged about 91, she moved into White Oak Manor nursing home. At the age of 95, she was chosen as Nursing Home Resident of the Year by the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association. According to a director of her nursing home, "Maggie is a leader, but she's the most gentle leader I have ever known." In 1987, aged about 100, Murdock lost both her legs to amputation, but she remained active for several more years.
Maggie Murdock died in North Carolina, United States on 22 July 2000 at the age of 112 years, 338 days. Her stepdaughter Minerva Turner died in April 2006 at the age of 89.
