Longevity myth

Mahmud Bagir oglu Eyvazov (7 February 1808? – 3 December 1960) was an Azerbaijani longevity myth. He came from Lerik District, called "the land of centenarians". At the time of his death, he wasn't even the oldest living claim in Lerik District, as Shirali Muslimov claimed to be older.

Biography[]

Mahmud Eyvazov claimed to have been born on 7 February 1808 in the village of Pirasora, Russian Empire (now Lerik District, Azerbaijan). He claimed his grandfather lived 120 years, and his mother lived to the claimed age of 130 years.

In 1956, a stamp bearing Eyvazov's effigy was made by the USSR. At the time, his daughter was still living at the claimed age of 120.

Eyvazov died in Pirasora, Lerik District, Azerbaijan SSR, Soviet Union (now Azerbaijan) on 3 December 1960, at claimed age of 152 years, 300 days.
