Maki Hirabayashi (Japanese: 平林まき; 17 October 1909 – 22 February 2023) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by LongeviQuest (LQ), as well as the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography[]
Maki Hirabayashi was born in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan on 17 October 1909. She married Tadashi in 1929. The couple were farmers. They had nine children in total. The eldest son Toshio was born circa 1929/1930 and was still alive as of April 2020.
Hirabayashi died in Memuro, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan on 22 February 2023 at the age of 113 years, 128 days. Her funeral was held on 25 February 2023. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living resident of the prefecture, behind Tane Matsubara, who was only two days older. Her age was verified by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yu Li, Noriyuki Ooe, and Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 20 May 2023.
