Mamie Elizabeth Johnson (née Simon; 13 January 1906 – 27 May 2016) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 20 July 2018. She was the oldest known person in Tennessee at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Mamie Johnson was born in Nashville, Tennessee, USA on 13 January 1906. Her parents were Edward Simon (1877–1937) and Mamie Simon.
She married Luster Johnson in Davidson County, Tennessee on 21 December 1924.The couple had five chidren: Raymond Johnson (deceased), Bruce Johnson, Geraldine Huffine (1933–2018), Dorothy Goad, Lois Pyrdum (1940–2015). She was widowed in 1941. She was a long-time member of Woodmont Baptist Church in the "Joy-Loyalty Sunday School Class".
Mamie Johnson died in Nashville, Tennessee, USA on 27 May 2016 at the age of 110 years, 135 days.
