Mara Kvrgic [Bosnian: Mara Kvrgić] (19 July 1903 – 4 December 2012) was a Bosnian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Mara Kvrgic was born in in the village of Popuze, municipality of Sipovo, Austria-Hungary (now Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 19 July 1903. She married Krsto Kvrgic in the 1930s. The couple had three children. Her husband died in 1975 at the age of 75.
Her daughter Pera, who lived in Futog, died in a traffic accident. Her son Bosko, who lived with her, died shortly before April 2012, and her other son lived in Vojvodina.
In her later years, she lived with her daughter-in-law Mara (aged 72 in December 2012).
She became the oldest known living person in Bosnia and Herzegovina, following the death of 109-year-old Anica Radmilovic on 3 March 2009.
Mara Kvrgic died in Babici, a village about thirty kilometers from Sipovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on 4 December 2012 at the age of 109 years, 138 days. Following her death, then 106-year-old Jovan Jovanovic became the oldest known living person in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
