Mara Radenkovic [Serbian: Мара Раденковић] (24 March 1909 – 15 January 2017) was a Serbian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Serbia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Mara Radenkovic was born on 24 March 1909 in the Kingdom of Serbia (now Serbia), and she has lived in Belgrade since the fourth grade of elementary school. She graduated from high school and the Faculty of Philosophy at a time when it was not available to many women.
Her father, Borivoje, was the first Serbian academic painter to complete his studies in Paris. Mara worked as a professor of history and geography until she was 68, and she ended her career at the School of Chemistry in Belgrade.
She became the oldest known living person in Serbia, following the death of 112-year-old Jelisaveta Veljkovic on 20 October 2016. She was also the last known Serbian person born in the 1900s decade.
Mara Radenkovic died in Belgrade, Serbia on 15 January 2017, at the age of 107 years, 297 days. Following her death, then 106-year-old Darinka Jandric became the oldest known living person in Serbia.
