Marcelina Arauz de Maure [Spanish: Araúz] (1 June 1909 – 26 March 2022) was a Panamanian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known living person in Panama at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Marcelina Arauz was born in Ocú, Herrera, Panama on 1 June 1909. She married a man with the surname Maure. They had four children. At the age of 111, she had nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and more than 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Arauz died in Los Llanos, Ocu District, Herrera, Panama, on 26 March 2022 at the age of 112 years, 299 days. Her death was due to COVID-19, so she became the oldest victim of the disease in Latin America.
