Margaret Cameron (née Mellick; 9 February 1914 – 4 April 2025) was a Canadian supercentenarian who was among the oldest living people in Canada at the time of her death. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Margaret Cameron was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to parents Horice and Elsie Mellick. She married Ross Cameron in 1938. In 2014, she celebrated her 100th birthday and became a centenarian. She was vaccinated against COVID-19 in January 2021.
Cameron has been described as "the life of the party" and is known for her catchphrases such as "fit as a fiddle and ready for love", "I'm off to chase the boys," and "where's the giggle juice?" When asked on her 103rd birthday about her secret to longevity, she said “I was always busy and kept out of mischief most of the time."
Margaret Cameron died at Hawthorn Park Retirement Residence in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada on 4 April 2025 at the age of 111 years, 54 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in British Columbia.
