Margaret Cundy (née Markussen; 16 July 1911 – 29 October 2021) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Margaret Cundy was born as Margaret Markussen in Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA on 16 July 1911, the youngest of four children born to Jens “Jim” and Elizabeth (Lauritsen) Markussen. Her father was born in Denmark and her mother was the child of Danish immigrants.
She married John Cundy in 1949. The couple had no children. Cundy would work for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 45 years before retiring in 1975. Her husband would pass away a year later. At the age of 80, she would come out of retirement to teach kids how to read and learn. She retired again at the age of 90 years old.
Margaret Cundy died in Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA on 29 October 2021, at the age of 110 years, 105 days.
