Margaret O’Connor (née Smith; 27 January 1911 – 17 April 2019) was an American centenarian who was the second-oldest known person in Hawaii (behind Hanako Hashimoto) at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Margaret O’Connor was born in Seattle, Washington, USA on 27 January 1911. Her parents were Fred Smith and Evelyn Smith. She graduated with a Nursing Degree in the 1930s.

She married Ward F. O’Connor and had five sons: Brian O’Connor, Ward "Bucky" O’Connor (now deceased), James O’Connor (now deceased), John O’Connor, and Bradley O’Connor. The couple also had one girl who died in infant.

She was a Registered Nurse at the cancer wing at St. Claire’s Hospital, New Jersey for many years before retiring and moving to Florida and later Maui, Hawaii.

O’Connor died in Maui, Hawaii, USA on 17 April 2019 at the age of 108 years, 80 days. She was survived by three children Brian O’Connor, John O’Connor, and Bradley O’Connor; and at least a dozen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
