Margaret Jane Ritchey (née Heffner; 7 April 1909 – 16 October 2019) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Margaret Ritchey was born in Huntingdon, Pennyslvania, USA, on 7 April 1909. She was one of seven children born to Lewis Cass and Minnie Bell (née Russler) Heffner. One of her sisters was Delia Heffner Fragassi. She married Rev. James Ritchey who was also from Huntingdon. They had six children: Gerald, Helen, Leila, Velma, James and Leona.
In 1984, her husband passed away after 59 years of marriage. Ritchey celebrated her 110th birthday on 7 April 2019. As of her 110th birthday, two of her children were still alive (James and Leona). At the time of her death, she had 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
Ritchey died in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, United States, on 16 October 2019, at the age of 110 years, 192 days.
