Margaret Kathleen Young (née Moore; 22 October 1910 – 18 December 2020) was a British supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020.
Biography[]
Margaret Young was born in Skegby, Nottinghamshire, England on 22 October 1910. Her parents were Harold and Agnes Moore. She left school at 14-years-old to work at the now-demolished CWS Hosiery factory in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. She married Jack Young in 1936 at St Andrew’s Church in Skegby, and they lived together in nearby Sutton-in-Ashfield. The couple had one son, John Young, born around 1943.
Young's husband died in 1979, and her younger sister Nora Hallam died in 2003. In 2012, Young moved into a care home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England. As of October 2018, she had two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She died on 18 December 2020 at the age of 110 years, 57 days.
