Margarete Dannheimer (28 January 1904 – 2 July 2015) was a German supercentenarian, whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She has been the oldest living person in Germany from the death of Charlotte Klamroth on 16 May 2015 until her own death on 2 July 2015.
Biography
Margarete Dannheimer was born in Ostheim as one of five siblings. In 1930, she married Karl Dannheimer. They were married for 67 years until Karl's death in 1997, at age 94. In 1943, the family moved to Neuendettelsau, where she lived until her death. Together with her husband, Margarete Dannheimer owned a radio shop. She also worked as a receptionist.
At the age of 109, Margarete Dannheimer moved into a nursing home where she was sharing an apartment with her daughter. As wished, she received a radio by Horst Seehofer, minister president of Bavaria. Mrs. Dannheimer daughter attributed her longevity to eating a lot of vegetables like red cabbage, beans, cauliflower, kohlrabi and savoy cabbage instead of enjoying fat.
Margarete Dannheimer died on 2 July 2015, at the age of 111 years, 155 days. After her death, Else Ronsch became the oldest living person in Germany.
