Maria Antonia Castro [Spanish: María] (10 June 1881 – 16 January 1996) was a validated Spanish supercentenarian who was noted for being Spain's longevity recordholder for 20 years (1996–2016). She was the oldest validated person ever in Spain, dying at the age of 114 years, 220 days, but she is now fourth-oldest validated person ever to have resided in Spain, behind Maria Branyas Morera, Ana Vela-Rubio, and Magdalena Oliver Gabarro, and the third-oldest validated person ever born in Spain, behind Vela-Rubio and Oliver Gabarro. She was also the world's fifth-oldest living person (behind Jeanne Calment, Sarah Knauss, Marie-Louise Meilleur, and Mary Bidwell) when she died, based on revised historical data.
Her case was initially verified by the International Database on Longevity.
Before 2013, her identity was only known to be M.A.C.C., but, in 2013, the identities of Maria Antonia Castro and Maria del Carmen Lopez were revealed.[1]
