Maria Brandes (11 August 1902 – 6 February 2013) was a Slovakian-born German supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Maria Brandes was born in Trnava, Trnava Region, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia), on 11 August 1902. At the age 8, she moved to Viena, Austria, where she met the emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. Until her marriage, she worked in the administrative office of the Burgtheater, after which she moved to Germany.
On 11 August 2012, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
Maria Brandes died in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, on 6 February 2013, at the age of 110 years, 179 days. She is currently the titleholder for oldest person ever born in Slovakia.
