Maria Burger (née Ebner; 17 February 1914 – 19 June 2021) was an Austrian centenarian who is one of the oldest known survivors of COVID-19, having recovered from the disease at the age of 106.

Early Life and Family[]
Maria Burger was born on 17 February 1914 in Villach, Carinthia, Austria to Lorenz and Maria (née Roth) Ebner. Her father was a railway station worker for Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways. Burger had three siblings; her younger sister, Angela, died at the age of 30.
Burger moved to Vienna at the age of 17, where she worked as a housemaid and met her husband, Alois, whom she married on 7 October 1934. The couple had two children, Alois Jr. (born 7 April 1935) and Ilse (born 9 April 1946). In 1938, Alois Sr. enlisted in the military, and was posted to Leningrad, Russia. From 1941 to 1946, while her husband was away, Burger worked as a postwoman.
Later Life and COVID-19 Survival[]
Burger's husband suffered multiple strokes in his later life, and she spent around 15 years caring for him. He died aged 80 in 1993, after nearly 60 years of marriage. In 2015, at the age of 101, Burger moved into a retirement home in Vienna, Austria. As of 2021, she has two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
In January 2021, Burger tested positive for COVID-19 during the coronavirus pandemic. However, she did not experience any symptoms and had tested negative by the time of her 107th birthday in February, making her one of the oldest known survivors of the disease.
Maria Burger died in Vienna, Austria on 19 June 2021, at the age of 107 years, 122 days.
