Maria Ceremugova [Slovakian: Mária Čeremugová] (11 September 1909 – 5 December 2018) was a Slovakian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Slovakia.

Biography[]

Maria Ceremugova was born in Spisske Podhradie, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia) on 11 September 1909. [1]

Ceremugova had five brothers and had been doing physical work since she was ten. She married, but she was widowed at the age of 33. The couple had two sons, one of them died at the age of six, and the other one lived until he was 61 years old. Ceremugova had two grandchildren.

She was working until she was age 85 and was still living independently even at the age of 106. She mainly ate homemade food and drank fresh cow's milk daily. She avoided meat and used minimal amount of salt. She liked the sweets and fruits very much, as well as herbal teas.

At the age of 108, Ceremugova suffered from a stroke, but her health improved prior to her 109th birthday in 2018.

Ceremugova died in Levoca, Presov, Slovakia on 5 December 2018 at the age of 109 years, 85 days. She is currently the oldest woman to ever die in Present-day Slovakia.
