Maria Gomes dos Reis (16 June 1900? - 8 June 2024) was a Brazilian longevity claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR). If her claimed age were validated, she would have been older than Brazil and South America’s oldest validated person ever, Francisca Celsa dos Santos, the world’s oldest living validated person, Maria Branyas Morera, and the oldest validated person in history, Jeanne Calment.

Biography[]

Maria Gomes dos Reis claimed to have been born in the village of Bela Vista, in Bom Jesus da Lapa, Bahia, Brazil on 16 June 1900. She had eight children (seven of them died in infancy).

Around 2014, she fractured her pelvis and was bedridden.

As of May 2022, she has seven grandchildren (including Celia Cristina), 13 great-grandchildren (including Vitoria Stefani Gomes (aged 26) and Ivanilde Gomes), and seven great-great-grandchildren.

At the claimed age of 121, she didn't have any chronic diseases, but was facing difficulties due to forgetfulness.

Maria Gomes dos Reis died on 8 June 2024, at the claimed age of 123 years, 358 days, just 8 days before her claimed 124th birthday. She lived with her granddaughter Celia Cristina (aged 63 in May 2022).
