Maria Hricova [Slovak: Mária Hricová] (12 July 1873 – 4 November 1979) was a Slovakian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Slovakia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Mária Hricová was born in Košice, Košice Region, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia), on 12 July 1873, into a poor family. She lost her parents at the age of six, and lived with her family in the countryside. From the age of 19, she worked as a worker in several factories. At some point, she married, and had six children, Mária, Alžbeta, Anna, and Ondrej.
On 12 July 1973, she celebrated her 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian. At the age of 106, she had seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mária Hricová died in Košice, Košice Region, Slovakia, on 4 November 1979, at the age of 106 years, 115 days. Following her death, then 102-year-old Mária Fillová became the oldest known living person in Slovakia.
