Maria "Mia" Joana Rodrigues (6 January 1906? – 24/25 June 2019) was a Cape Verdean supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest living person from Cape Verde, after the death of Maria Veiga Amado on 6 May 2018, until her own death.

Biography[]

Maria Rodrigues claimed to have been born in Paul, Santo Antao, Cape Verde, on 6 January 1906. She had 10 children (four now deceased). She was bedridden since she was in her 90s due to spine problems and high blood pressure. About 30 years prior to her death, she moved to Ribeira de Juliao, Sao Vicente to live with her daughter.

On her claimed 112th birthday in 2018, she had approximately 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She had two children in Sao Tome and Principe with whom she had no contact in a long time. They also have their own children and Rodrigues didn't know how many grandchildren they have. She also had great-grandchildren in Portugal and in Santiago (Cape Verde). She was known as Mia d'Ribera d'Julion and Mri d’Jona.

Maria Rodrigues died in Ribeira de Juliao, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, on 24/25 June 2019 at the claimed age of 113 years, 169/170 days.
