Maria Florida Lacasse (6 December 1913 – 21 February 2025) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Maria Lacasse was born in Chertsey, Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada on 6 December 1913. Her mother's name was Celina Lacasse (née Desrochers) and she had at least six siblings. She spent her youth in Saint-Calixte, Quebec, and moved to Montreal at the age of 18. She married Octave Moisan in 1941 and had two sons, Pierre and Richard.
Ib December 2023, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. As of her 110th birthday, she remained lucid and was still able to walk, and said she planned on reaching ages 111 and 112.
Maria Lacasse died at CHSLD Saint-Michel nursing home in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 21 February 2025 at the age of 111 years, 77 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in the province of Quebec, after Margaret Romans.
