Maria Luisa Benjamin (23 July 1910 – 1 November 2021) was a supercentenarian from Aruba (a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Maria Luisa Benjamin was born in St. Kitts Island, Saint Kitts and Nevis on 23 July 1910. On 14 October 2019, she surpassed the age of Annette Maduro-Lampe, becoming the oldest (known) person ever from Aruba. She celebrated her 110th birthday in July 2020, and became the first (known) supercentenarian from Aruba.
She may be the oldest living person in the Netherlands, since the death of Anne Brasz-Later on 2 September 2020.
In April 2021, she had been appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. She had been a dedicated volunteer of the Women's League of the Methodist Church for 44 years and was the oldest member of the order ever. The previous record holder was Toos Wierema-Ballings who received the honor in April 2020 at the age of 95.
Maria Luisa Benjamin died in Aruba, on 1 November 2021 at the age of 111 years, 101 days.
