Maria Papakyriakou (Greek: Μαρία Παπακυριακού; 5 July 1901 – 21 January 2012) was a Greek supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Greece.
Biography
Papakyriakou was born in present-day Greece on 5 July 1901. She had 5 children. Her oldest child, a son, was born in 1931. In her final years, Papakyriakou was bedridden, but she had mental clarity.
She became the oldest known living person in Greece, following the death of 109-year-old Konstantinos Papadamis on 4 August 2010.
Papakyriakou died in Island of Rhodes, Greece on 21 January 2012 at the age of 110 years, 200 days. Following the her death, then 108-year-old Panagiota Kraniou, became the oldest known living person in Greece.
