Maria Venerando-Mantegazza (née Venerando; 10 December 1904 – 18 December 2014) was an Italian supercentenarian whose case was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2019.

Biography

Maria Venerando was born on 10 December 1904 in Gravellona Lomellina, which is part of the Italian region of Lombardy. She married Virginio Mantegazza before 1929, which was when they moved to Turin, the capital city of Piedmont. The couple had a son, Paolo, in 1935.

Maria was a housewife for most of her life. In 1951, the family moved into a newly-built house in Turin, and Maria and her son lived there until the end of her life. Maria's husband Virginio died in 1965. After his death, Maria lived on her own until the age of 104, when her son Paolo Mantegazza moved back in to look after her. Maria's secret to a long life, roughly translated, was, "If you eat everything, but very little, your body works perfectly."

Maria Venerando died in Turin, Piedmont, Italy on 18 December 2014 at the age of 110 years, 8 days.
