Maria Virgínia de Abreu Ferreira de Almeida Pestana (3 April 1899 – 1 August 2010) was a Portuguese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the second-oldest person from Portugal (after Maria Luiza Nunes da Silva) at the time of her death.

Biography

She was born on 3 April 1899 in Porto, Portugal. Her father was a doctor and her mother died when she was five years. She was a member of the first class of women to enter Portuguese higher education in 1917 and founder of the first female student republic of Coimbra. In c.1931‬, she married Ernesto Pestana, who later became Civil Governor of Coimbra. She had 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She died in Coimbra, Portugal on 1 August 2010 at the age of 111 years, 120 days.
