Mariana Effio de Giraldo (née Effio Espinoza; 12 February 1906 – 16 December 2016) was a Peruvian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Mariana Effio Espinoza was born in Miraflores District, Lima Province, Peru, on 12 February 1906. Her parents were Enrique Effio Rivas (1858–1930) and Amparo Toribia Espinoza Tello (1876–1918). She had at least eight siblings.
She married Luis Octavio Giraldo Macedo (born 1899) on 29 December 1941. She had at least one son: Edmundo Rafael Giraldo Effio. She got widowed in January 1981.
In February 2016, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Effio de Giraldo died in San Borja District, Lima Province, Peru on 16 December 2016 at the age of 110 years, 308 days.
